NICE guidelines are based on agreed national guidance to improve people’s health. Its recommendations are based on evidence of both clinical and cost effectiveness within the NHS.
Locally developed clinical guidelines recommend how healthcare professionals should care for patients with specific conditions. They are produced within the Trust.
UHCW is currently implementing the AAA process (pilot stage).
The aim of the process is:
Adopt: National guidance can be adopted without the need for a local COP
Adapt: Adapt national guidance by creating OR amending a COP to capture local variation to practice
Assemble: Assemble local COP if no national guidance available If existing local guideline no longer needed, follow removals process
The Clinical Guideline Specialist Service is available to provide support throughout the process.
